FAQ for Administrators

I am the administrator and I want the teachers to be responsible for creating and administrating user accounts. How do I do this?

First you will need to create user accounts for the teachers from the administrator console. When new accounts are created, they default to "student" users. From the administration console, you can give the newly created users administration privileges by selecting "Make an Administrator" next to their name in the actions column.

Once the teachers have been given administrator privileges, they will be able to sign in and access the administration console to create new accounts.

We have hundreds of students, and do not want to create all the accounts manually. What should we do?

Instead of manually creating the accounts from the administration console, you have the option of letting the students create their own accounts.
To do this, instruct the students to:

  • Click Subscribe.
  • In the Students and Staff section, click the continue link.
  • Select the name of the school or organization.
  • Follow the instructions to create an account.

Once the students have created an account, the administrators will receive an email notifying them that access has been requested. To active the account, the administrator must login to the administration console, and approve access for the pending user.

FAQ for Teachers

How many points should I select for the assignments?

The Yabla game consists of 10 cloze questions that are randomly chosen from the video captions. A student is awarded 10 points for a correct answer on the first try, and 5 points for a correct answer on the second attempt. Each round of gameplay requires 2-5 minutes, and the student can receive a maximum of 100 points. We recommend assigning 500 to 1000 points per video.

I am a teacher, but I don't see an option to create a class. What should I do?

Please check with the account administrator to verify that you have been granted teacher permissions.

Can teachers project Yabla videos to a class or group of students?

Yes, teachers who are subscribers may project Yabla videos to a classroom or assembled group of students.
